The CB700SC Nighthawk S was a US-market sport standard built at 696 cc so it slipped under the 700 cc limit of the 1983 American import tariff, with a near-identical CB750SC sold elsewhere. It combined a DOHC 16-valve air-cooled four with hydraulic valve adjusters, shaft drive and a six-speed box, plus a small bikini fairing and anti-dive fork. It ran from 1984 to 1986 with only colour and trim changes.
